We are expanding at such a rate that we are seeking two trustees to join our governing Council during 2008, and we will be looking for a further two in 2009. With even bigger plans for the future, you will play a key role in making it happen.
As a Trustee, you will grasp the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead with vision and energy – applying your expertise to make a visible and lasting difference to the Trust. This will mean overseeing our growth, ensuring sound governance, as well as promoting our work to key audiences and representing the Trust at events.
While not necessarily functional experts, we find it useful to have trustees who are able to hold management to account. As a result, we are keen to hear from people with knowledge or experience in conservation and/or broader land and property management, as well as those with extensive business and financial acumen.
In terms of background, you will be used to operating at a strategic level in a growing organisation, and ideally have already held a trustee or NED position. Passionate and committed to the Trust and its values, you will bring an assertive yet collaborative approach to the role, have a high level of integrity and understand and accept the legal duties and responsibilities of being a Trustee and a Director. A natural team player, you will also be capable of making the most of your well-developed network to help make our vision for the future a reality.
Following a tailored induction programme, spread over 2-3 days, you will be required to attend around 12 days of meetings pa – with at least half relating to Council meetings. But there is huge scope to contribute beyond this, and we would actively welcome those who are able to give more time – to attend events and advise on special projects, or those who are able to commit the time and energy which would go with chairmanship of the Trust or one of its committees. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
